Our work focuses on sourcing natural gemstones directly from mining areas such as Ratnapura, Elahera, Rakwana, Nivithigala, Pelmadulla, Balangoda, and surrounding regions, as well as international sources including Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, and Kenya.

Are your gemstones natural?
Yes. All gemstones supplied by Liyanage Lapidary are natural unless clearly stated otherwise. We specialize in natural stones sourced directly from mining areas and trusted international suppliers.
Are your gemstones treated?
Some gemstones are unheated (natural), while others may undergo standard heat treatment, which is a widely accepted and traditional practice in the gemstone industry.
All treatments are clearly disclosed in product descriptions to ensure transparency and trust.
Do you provide gemstone certification?
Yes. We can arrange certification from authorized gemological laboratories upon request. Certification may include details such as origin, treatment status, and gemstone identity.
Additional costs and processing time may apply depending on the selected laboratory.
What is the difference between heated and unheated gemstones?
Unheated gemstones are in their natural state without thermal enhancement. Heated gemstones have been treated to improve color and clarity.
Both are natural, but unheated stones are generally rarer and may carry higher value depending on the gemstone type.

Where do your gemstones come from?
Our primary sourcing is from Sri Lanka (the gem island Sri Lanka), especially from regions like:
Ratnapura, Elahera, Rakwana, Nivithigala, Pelmadulla, Balangoda, Kahawatta, Kalawana, Kolonna, Endana, Rambuka, Okkampitiya, Bakamuna, Eheliyagoda, Embilipitiya, Matale, Kataragama, and other village-level mining areas across the island, depending on gemstone variety, availability, and ongoing mining activity.
We also source internationally from: Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, and Kenya.
Do you source directly from mining areas?
Yes. We work closely with miners, suppliers, and local dealers in mining regions, allowing us to access fresh material directly from the source.
Do you offer gemstone cutting and polishing services?
Yes. Liyanage Lapidary provides professional cutting, polishing, and custom shaping services using traditional Sri Lankan faceting techniques.
